"Widdle and waddle. Tumble and twirl. Shake and shimmy. "

Nudlebot began as an idea that was just too funny to pass up. A small pile of cast silver parts, couple of inches of thick snake-chain and a few moments with the soldering torch created this little fellow. In hindsight he was definitely inspired by Gyro Gearloose and his Little Helper.

The eye, hands and feet are made by casting and finished by hand. A 3 mm wide snake-chain was then soldered to the pieces to act as arms and legs and to add that sweet motion. The eye has a 14 carat gold lens to add that little spark to the piece.

Most of the joints are made by casting and finished by hand. The eyestalks, pincers and the carapace are made by hand. The whole piece has been oxidised and burnished with pumice.

The figurine was made for an exhibition called Eligiuksen Perilliset, which celebrated 80 years of Finnish goldsmithing. The exhibition was first held at Sibeliustalo, Lahti, then moved to a second exhibition to Museum Of Horology in Helsinki. It featured pieces made in two person teams of fledgling students and alumni in the field of jewellery design and goldsmithing.

The theme of the piece is derived from a sentence in David Days book, The World Of Tolkien. It reads, "Endurance beyond hope." Little Knight is a spark of heroism and adventure in a world much larger than him. He carries on enduring whatever the world throws at him.

The legs and arms were made by casting and finished by hand. The helmet, body, armor and weapons are made by hand from sterling silver. The rivets are made from silver tubing and small rubber rings provide stiffness for the joints. The whole piece has been oxidised and burnished with pumice.

Diggybot is the second of my little bots to be made in sterling silver.
It is inspired by the adventures of The Yogscast on Youtube. 

The chassis and arms are cast into silver and finished by hand. The helm, pauldrons, shield and the pickaxe are made by hand. The whole piece has been oxidised and burnished with pumice. The inner eye is made from a 14 carat gold lens. Though silver tarnishes through time the eye will forever keep its shine. It represents the undying spark of creation and imagination.
